Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, announced the start of the Urology Department at Kasr El-Ainy Faculty of Medicine; the use of the surgical robot in the kidney failure treatment and surgery unit, where the robot is used to perform advanced surgeries free of charge, with the support of the Central Bank of Egypt.
Dr. Mohamed El-Khosht said that the introduction of robotic surgery systems into the health system of Cairo University hospitals is in line with the boom in the medical sector in recent years, pointing out that the cost of the surgical robot device is estimated at 45 million Egyptian pounds, and it is a unique device and is the third device in existence In Egypt, and the first to provide its services for free in a new precedent for Cairo University Hospitals.
For her part, Dr. Manal Al-Masry, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairperson of the Hospitals Board of Directors, said that robotic surgery is an opportunity for hundreds of thousands of patients suffering from tumors, especially that oncology treatment cannot be waited, and pointing out that it has become necessary to provide this modern technology in Kasr Al-Ainy hospitals. As a beacon of medical sciences in the Middle East and the oldest college in the world.
Hossam Salah, Executive Director of Kasr Al-Ainy Hospitals, said that Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital is keen to keep pace with the development in the treatment of tumors and advanced surgeries by introducing the surgical robot technology that has spread in all advanced medical centers in the world, noting that Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital treats more than a thousand patients.
